(Found Objects) I dig Alex White — what he does at Rezpiral, sure, but also Alex himself. What he does at Rezpiral is work with small-batch producers to export the kinds of delicious spirits you usually only find by visiting Oaxaca’s rural communities. If you want to drink agave spirits in the same form in which they are consumed in the communities in which they are made … look for Rezpiral.
Then there’s Alex himself. He’s a pure-hearted hippie, through and through — though he’d hate that characterization. So what I mean by that is, Alex is the kind of guy who runs a socialist enterprise disguised as a business. He has a profit-sharing program with his producers (who he already pays generously) that equals 30% of the year’s profits.
He’s also the artist for each of his labels. Those eye-catching labels, he turned a bunch of them into prints this past year.
