supporting water security
They have a well in Ixtlahuahuey…
Now they need a new pump in order to bring that water to the 800 people in this community in Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. With the support of our friends at 818 Tequila, we were able to fund the community of Chacala — about 20 minutes away from Ixtlahuahuey — to build a well and cistern to bring water security to those 200 residents.
Imagine our surprise when visiting the region in March 2026 to stumble on a similar problem so close to Chacala. And here, the only need is for a new pump — about a US$15,000 expense, including installation.
We were invited to help the community by raicillero Nereo Garcia Romero. Nereo will serve as our intermediary with the ejidal body, including Dagoberto Bugarel Estrada, their president.
To date, with your support, we’ve been able to help six communities implement their systems for water security. That’s around 2,700 people who have access to water, thanks to the community of agave spirits enthusiasts. We’d love to add this seventh project. Will you help us fund a water pump for Ixtlahuahuey?
