The 400 Decisions of Heritage Agave Spirits

  • Adios Amigo 1 E 1st Avenue New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

What makes Mezcal taste like Mezcal? Is it the agave? The place the agave came from? The process used to turn the agave into a spirit? All of these? Something else? That’s what we’ll explore in this tasting of nine agave spirits, organized into three flights of three spirits each. The first flight, the Heart of the Agave, features three different spirits made exactly the same way by the same producer, the only significant difference being the agave used. The second flight, the Hand of the Maker, features three spirits made the same way in the same place using the same agave — but each is made by a different producer. In the third flight, the Harvest of the Moment, we’ll taste three spirits made the same way with the same agave, all by the same producer — the only significant difference is they were each made at a different time over a 24-month period.

This free tasting is by invitation only. You’re welcome to bring a guest, just be sure to reserve with their name, too. The event is being hosted by Dark Matter Coffee at their Adios Amigo Cafe, 1 E 1st St, New York, NY 10003. The event will start promptly at 7:00pm on Sunday, April 27, and will conclude at 8:30pm. Please arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 to secure your spots. Dark Matter will be serving free snacks — mainly baked goods, coffee, and chocolate. Hope you can join us!
