"In the Eye of the Toad There is a Seed" by Alex White
Inside every seed there is a light, and without the darkness there can’t be that light. Only when you plant this seed, only when there is water, does the other world open. The cane toad has an allegory for you, delivered through the art of Alex White, founder of Rezpiral.
“In the Eye of the Toad There is a Seed” is an illustrated short story that takes you there, takes you to the other world, down inside the river, which is actually a dream. Into the dream, which is actually a river. It starts way up there, where nothing can grow. Up where there’s a volcano, and inside the neck of that volcano, right where the moon sits, where the water begins to trickle. It’ll jostle you around, blast clean that little space of resignation inside of you. Where did that world go?, you’ll wonder. Where did that power go? Can I ever get back there? Is that still me? Just follow the dream. Once this dream makes its way into your heart, you will wake up to another rhythm.
